Ahead of Final Child Tax Credit Payments, Kuster Highlights Impact of Tax Cut for Granite State Families, Calls for Extension

**The Child Tax Credit provision of the American Rescue Plan Act increased the tax break to $3,000 for every child age 6 to 17 and $3,600 for every child under the age of 6**

**The Build Back Better Act passed by the House earlier this year would give more than 35 million families a major tax cut by extending the expanded Child Tax Credit**

Washington, D.C. — This week, as the final round of the expanded Child Tax Credit payments created by the American Rescue Plan hit bank accounts across New Hampshire, Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02) shared the stories of Granite State families who have benefitted from the tax cut. Kuster helped deliver approximately $159 million in tax cuts to more than 66,000 Granite State families in New Hampshire’s Second District through the expanded Child Tax Credit.

“In the months since Congress passed the historic American Rescue Plan, we have seen first-hand the positive impact the expanded Child Tax Credit has on Granite State families,” said Rep. Kuster. “These targeted advanced tax payments helped hardworking families take a breath and afford everything from gas to groceries to child care to their mortgage payments. We must invest in our families to build a more resilient, more diverse economy and workforce. That’s why I’m working to extend the Child Tax Credit so we can continue to lift Granite State families and build a better future for all.”

"One of my children has complex medical needs. Due to this, I work less than I otherwise would,” said Jessica Wright, a mother of two in Nashua. “Thankfully, child tax credit payments have relieved some of the stress associated with a decrease in income, allowing me to spend more time paying attention to my children and less time worrying about my finances."

“Our family is appreciative of the very helpful funds we receive through the Child Tax Credit Relief,” said Danielle Oakes, a mom of three in Dalton. “This stipend allows us to purchase additional groceries for our 3 teenage boys (an infinite expense), as well as the continually rising costs of our utility payments.”

“I figure I would be getting the child tax credit at tax time but is nice getting it monthly to go towards what he needs,” said Cathi Bill, mother of one in Winchester. “He is a teenager so things like a phonecard so he can check in when he’s out, clothes and shoes because it seems like every other month he has grown out of something, and of course food. I swear teens eat more than a horse!”
