Concord, N.H. — Last week, Representative Annie Kuster (NH-02) met with Granite State students from Harold Martin School in Hopkinton and Christa McAuliffe School in Concord to discuss the importance of honoring our nation’s veterans as part of her 8th annual Holiday Cards for Heroes drive. The program is back in 2021 after being cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Broken Ground School and Mill Brook School students from Concord also created and sent cards as part of the initiative. The cards were delivered to veterans at New Hampshire Veterans Homes across the state today.

“Our nation’s active-duty service members, veterans, national guardsmen, and their families sacrifice a great deal for our country and our communities, and it is very important we honor their service, especially around the holidays,” said Rep. Kuster. “My Holiday Cards for Heroes drive is an opportunity for young students to learn about and participate in New Hampshire’s proud tradition of honoring those who serve, and I hope these thoughtful, handcrafted cards from students bring joy to our Granite State service members this holiday season.”

“It was an honor to have Congresswoman Kuster at our school,” said Bill Carozza, Principal of Harold Martin School in Hopkinton. “Recognizing veterans has always been essential in our district. At Harold Martin School, we yearly celebrate Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, and Flag Day, and we invite Hopkinton residents who have been members of our US Armed Forces to attend. Having Rep. Kuster present to accept thank you cards from our students and speak about the importance of veterans is an enduring lesson for our kids.“

"The students at CMS were very happy to make Holiday Cards for Heroes,” said Kris Gallo, Principal of Christa McAuliffe School in Concord. “Students were excited to meet and talk with Rep. Kuster when she came by our school! We hope our cards bring joy to our Heroes, the veterans."
