Kuster Statement on 12th Anniversary of the Affordable Care Act

**This Congress, Kuster reintroduced her legislation to protect individuals with preexisting conditions**

Concord, N.H. — Today, Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02), a senior member of the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, released the following statement on the 12th anniversary of President Barack Obama signing the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act into law.

“Since it was signed into law more than a decade ago, the Affordable Care Act has strengthened our nation’s health care system and extended health insurance coverage to tens of millions of Americans,” said Rep. Kuster. “While we continue working to bolster the ACA and improve access to health care for Granite State families and people across the country, we must remain focused on ensuring no one can be denied coverage or charged more due to a preexisting condition. I will continue working to reinforce our health care system and expand access to quality, affordable care for all Americans.”

Congresswoman Kuster is tirelessly working to protect Americans in the Granite State and across the country with preexisting conditions. Last Congress, she successfully got her legislation, the Protecting Americans with Preexisting Conditions Act, passed by the House. She reintroduced this legislation in the 117th Congress to ensure future administrations cannot allow junk health plans to discriminate against Americans with preexisting conditions. Rep. Kuster is currently in her second term serving on the influential House Committee on Energy and Commerce, which has jurisdiction over health care, Medicare and Medicaid, environmental protection, and many other issues.
