Kuster highlights opposition to Internet sales tax

U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster is highlighting her opposition to an Internet sales tax bill with an upcoming stop on her North Country listening tour.

LITTLETON, N.H. (AP) — U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster is highlighting her opposition to an Internet sales tax bill with an upcoming stop on her North Country listening tour.

All four members of New Hampshire’s congressional delegation oppose a bill that would require shoppers to pay sales tax for online purchases. The bill, which passed the Senate this spring, would allow states to require online retailers to collect state and local sales taxes and send the money to the state where a shopper lives.

Kuster on Thursday is visiting the Littleton Coin Company to highlight the negative impact the bill would have in New Hampshire, which doesn’t currently have a general sales tax.
