Hello Friends,

As we head into Labor Day weekend, I wanted to take a moment to recognize and honor the incredible contributions of American workers and the labor movement.

From establishing the 40-hour work week to strengthening child labor laws and workplace safety standards, the labor movement has played a vital role in enshrining the benefits and protections hardworking families have earned and deserve.

I am committed to the fight for worker’s rights.

While we reflect on all we have accomplished for American workers, we must also recommit ourselves to the work that lies ahead. I am proud to stand with our labor brothers and sisters as we work to expand and defend these hard-fought benefits and protections for future generations.

We owe it to our workforce – the backbone of our economy – to continue fighting for better working conditions, higher wages, and more support so every family can thrive.

Advocating for the North Country

From Berlin to Bethlehem to Lancaster, it’s always a joy to visit the North Country.

Earlier this summer, I traveled across the North Country, meeting with local leaders, business owners, and community members to discuss health care access, local agriculture, workforce development, clean energy production, and more.

Fighting for New Hampshire Farmers

The Farm Bill is one of the most important pieces of legislation Congress has to pass this year.

Earlier this week, I held a Farm Bill listening session with agricultural leaders and local farmers and producers at Dartmouth Organic Farm to discuss their priorities for the future. The Farm Bill is a comprehensive legislative package to invest in our nation’s agricultural system, and it includes important measures to support small and family-owned farms, bolster domestic energy production, strengthen our supply chains, invest in our workforce, and expand access to nutrition assistance.

Our farmers and producers are the backbone of New Hampshire’s economy and food chain. As they continue to face new challenges — from climate change to workforce shortages — it is essential they have the support they need to thrive. I look forward to bringing our conversations back to Washington to pass a meaningful, bipartisan Farm Bill.

Expanding Access to Affordable Housing

Everyone deserves access to quality, affordable housing.

Also, this week, I toured Heater Landing in Lebanon, which consists of 44 energy-efficient apartments, and spoke with local leaders about how this development can serve as a model to expand the affordable housing stock in New Hampshire.

New Hampshire will need 90,000 more housing units by 2040 to meet expected demand. If we’re going to reach that goal, we must start developing new projects now. I will continue working to expand access to affordable housing and ensure everyone in New Hampshire has the support they need to thrive.
