Thanking Veterans for their Service

On Tuesday, I joined Vietnam War veterans and Veteran Service Officers to give remarks at a reception honoring and thanking veterans for their service and acknowledging the recipients of the Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemoration Pin. The brave men and women who went to Vietnam put their lives on hold to serve and sacrifice for our nation. Far too many of them didn’t receive the welcome home they deserved, and this pin program is an important way to remind our veterans that we have not forgotten them and are forever grateful for their service and unshakable devotion to our country and the American people. I’m honored to recognize all the selfless veterans and pin recipients in my district, including those who joined us for this event, and I will continue working to ensure all current and past servicemembers have access to the care and support they deserve.

Promoting Cross Border Trade

I joined New Hampshire and Canadian business leaders and trade experts at the Hanover Inn on Wednesday to give remarks at the U.S. – Canada Business Council event on the United States – Mexico – Canada Agreement. Cross border trade fuels our small businesses and is vital to the health of our economy. It is critical that we modernize and improve upon the flaws of NAFTA, but we must do so in a careful and thoughtful way. I appreciate the opportunity to meet and hear from so many business leaders and trade experts, and I will continue working to move New Hampshire’s economy forward so that it works for everyone.

Preventing Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

On Wednesday I also joined public safety officials in Lebanon for an important discussion about preventing carbon monoxide poisoning. This fall, the House passed my bill, which would create grants to provide low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities with lifesaving carbon monoxide detectors. I’m grateful for these community leaders for their work to keep our communities safe and I’m looking forward to our continued work together!

Visiting the New Hampshire Food Bank

It was such a pleasure to meet the dedicated team of the New Hampshire Food Bank on Monday with Congressman Chris Pappas! The New Hampshire Food Bank provides millions of pounds of food to food pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, children’s programs, and senior centers across the Granite State, and it is great to see their work firsthand.

Making College More Affordable

I was so glad to help kick off New Hampshire College Application Week on Monday with Congressman Chris Pappas, Senator Maggie Hassan and young Granite Staters who are pursuing higher education. I’m proud of these students and I look forward to my continued work to make college more accessible and affordable.

Protecting Our Environment and Our Future

I’m deeply disappointed with President Trump’s formal withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord. Climate Change is one of the most daunting challenges of our time, yet President Trump continues to put our environment, health, economy and national security at risk as he denies this frightening reality. Withdrawing from this agreement will only weaken our ability to combat the growing threat of climate change. I strongly urge the President to remain in this critical agreement and take much-needed action to protect our environment and our future.

As your Congresswoman, one of my biggest responsibilities is supporting Granite Staters when they need help with federal agencies. I was contacted by a constituent from Hanover, who had an issue of concern regarding a visa through the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). My staff worked with USCIS and helped resolve the constituent’s issue.
