Granite State Priorities

Dear Friend,

Delivering Results for New Hampshire Farmers

This week, I spoke as a member of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee and the Farm Bill Conference Committee about the importance of Granite State priorities that will benefit small family farms, rural communities, and vulnerable New Hampshire residents who need food assistance. We need to craft a bill that will fund programs having a real impact on the ground in New Hampshire, such as the Northern Border Regional Commission and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), while also helping to preserve our environment and spur economic growth. Congress can only achieve these measures for the American people if we put politics aside and work together to deliver real results for our agriculture community. I stand ready and willing to work with anybody to craft a Farm Bill that provides long-term certainty for Granite State farmers. You can read my Valley News op-ed about the importance of building a bipartisan Farm Bill here

Supporting New Hampshire Firefighters

On Wednesday, I announced with U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan and Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter that the Windham Fire Department will receive $735,612 and the Hudson Fire Department $642,964 in Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. Our firefighters do incredible work and put themselves at risk on a daily basis to keep our families and communities safe, and they are an indispensable partner in our efforts to take on the opioid epidemic. I was proud to push for robust funding for the SAFER grant program and I’ll continue to support funding for our local fire departments to ensure they have the staff and tools necessary to do their jobs.

Protecting Granite Staters at Risk of Opioid Abuse

I introduced the bipartisan Analyzing and Leveraging Existing Rx Transactions (ALERT) Act with Congressman Tom MacArthur (NJ-03) and Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (VA-10) to bolster our nation’s comprehensive response to the opioid crisis. This legislation complements Prescription Drug Monitoring programs in a minimally disruptive manner by using existing prescription data in a more effective way to protect patients who are at risk of opioid abuse. I look forward to continuing to work across the aisle to advance measures to take on this crisis and save lives.

Here to Serve You

As your Representative, my most important job is supporting Granite Staters when they need help with federal agencies. I was recently contacted by Richard Page of Bennington, who had an issue of concern with his Medicare coverage. My staff worked with the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) and helped resolve Richard's concern. If my office may be of assistance with a problem you are experiencing, please don't hesitate to reach out to my staff at 603-226-1002 so we can learn how we may help.

Now more than ever, it is so important for you to make your voice heard in our democratic process. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any ideas, questions or concerns you have. I love hearing from you!  As always, thank you for everything you do to make New Hampshire such a great place to call home. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,
