(Concord, NH)- Today, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) joined community leaders, education providers and mental health professionals at the Concord Boys & Girls Club to highlight President Trump’s proposed budget cuts to after-school programs, and the impact they will have on children’s health and well-being. Kuster was joined by Chris Emond, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire, as well as representatives from the New Hampshire Food Bank, Riverbend Mental Health, and the Concord School District, among others.

“President Trump’s budget proposal carves a wide and devastating path, undermining so many critical programs we care about in the Granite State, including programs that benefit children,” said Congresswoman Kuster. “Simply put, these cuts are cruel and unacceptable. I want to thank the community leaders who joined me today to talk about the valuable work they do for children, as well as the Concord Boys and Girls Club for hosting this important discussion. I’ll continue working in Congress to protect programs that help Granite State children and families and ensure these harmful cuts never occur.”

President Trump’s budget proposal eliminates the 21^st Century Community Learning Centers program, which funds after school programs throughout the country and distributed nearly $5 million to school districts in New Hampshire. In addition, the budget will drive millions of low-income Americans off of SNAP benefits over the next 10 years, and it will impact childhood/family mental health programs like those offered by Riverbend Community Mental Health.
