**Climate Action Now Act Includes Rep. Kuster’s Amendment to Support Clean Jobs in Rural Communities**

Today, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) voted in favor of the Climate Action Now Act, which would require the Trump Administration to remain in the Paris Climate Accord and establish a plan for how the United States will meet its commitment to reduce pollution. The legislation includes Kuster’s amendment to require the President to produce a report that will examine the impact of the Paris Agreement on clean energy job development in rural communities.

“I’m proud that the House of Representatives has acted to address carbon pollution and protect the future of our environment and economy,” said Kuster. “We’re already seeing the damaging consequences of climate change in New Hampshire, and failure to act on this threat would be a disservice to people in the Granite State and across the country. Addressing climate change and carbon pollution holds tremendous potential as new jobs are created in the clean energy economy. I want to make sure New Hampshire is at the forefront of these emerging industries and I’m pleased my amendment to support clean energy jobs in rural communities was included in this legislation. It’s time for Senator McConnell to get his head out of the sand and allow the Senate to act to protect our environment and put our nation in a position to lead the world in the clean energy economy of the 21^st Century.”

The Climate Action Now Act would prohibit any federal funds from being used to take any action to advance the withdrawal of the U.S. from the landmark Paris Agreement. It also calls on the President to develop and make public a plan for how the United States will meet its commitment to reduce pollution.
