Congresswoman Kuster Receiving the Granite Stater of the Year Award

Last night at the Seaport Hotel in Boston, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) was presented with the New Hampshire College and University Council (NHCUC) Granite Stater of the Year Award at the 14^th annual New Hampshire Reception, hosted by NHCUC. The reception was held prior to the New England Council’s Annual Dinner, which brings together elected officials and business, non-profit, and academic leaders to honor and celebrate the contributions the New England Council and individuals are making to the New England region.

“Today’s rapidly changing economy requires that we train workers to fit the jobs of the 21^st century,” said Kuster. “NHCUC understands the critical intersection of education in meeting the needs of our workforce challenges and works tirelessly to strengthen collaboration with the business community, improve recruitment of students to New Hampshire colleges and universities, and champion higher education in the state. I’m truly honored to be given this award by NHCUC, and I look forward to our continued work together to improve skills training and access to quality, affordable higher education.”  

“Congresswoman Kuster has been a steadfast supporter of New Hampshire’s public and private colleges and universities throughout her career,” said Mike Vlacich, President of the New Hampshire College and University Council. “We are grateful for her commitment in Washington to building the workforce New Hampshire’s economy needs to succeed and recognizing the critical role our schools play in accomplishing this.”

“Annie Kuster has been a long standing advocate for New Hampshire and its citizens for many years,” said Dr. Michele Perkins, President of New England College. “I was honored to present Representative Kuster with the Second Annual Granite Stater of the Year Award in recognition of her tireless service and support of the issues that matter most – including access to higher education, affordable health care, veterans, women, and families. Annie has been working hard for all of New Hampshire for a long time, even before entering Congress, as an advocate and adoption attorney.  She is a good friend and this recognition was well deserved.”
