Kuster Honored as Outdoor Recreation Champion by Appalachian Mountain Club

Gorham, N.H. — This week, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) was recognized by the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) for her longstanding commitment to supporting New Hampshire’s outdoor recreation and tourism industries and conservation work. During the event, Kuster heard from AMC staff members and discussed the group’s work researching and monitoring the impacts of climate change and extreme weather events, as well as opportunities for collaboration between the organization and the federal government.

“Having grown up in New Hampshire and spending my summers kayaking and winters skiing, I know firsthand that outdoor recreation and winter sports are cornerstones of our New Hampshire economy and Granite State way of life,” said Kuster. “I have been proud to work closely with organizations like AMC during my time in Congress to support these vital industries that help grow our economy and ensure New Hampshire’s great outdoors are protected and preserved for future generations to experience and enjoy.”

The Appalachian Mountain Club is the oldest outdoor group in the United States, supported by more than 90,000 members and nearly 3,000 volunteers. The organization’s mission is to preserve the country’s natural environment while promoting sustainable tourism and recreation and facilitating environmental data collection.

Kuster is a dedicated advocate for New Hampshire’s outdoor recreation industry and environmental stewardship in Congress. She has championed legislation to grow New Hampshire’s tourism and recreation-based economy, preserve and protect the state’s natural environment, and expand economic opportunities for the communities that support these industries.
