Kuster Joins Newly Formed Task Force on Rural Broadband

Today, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) announced that she is joining the new Task Force on Rural Broadband. The bipartisan Task Force will work to allocate federal funding for rural broadband and ensure every American has affordable internet access by 2025. Approximately 25 million Americans in rural communities don’t have access to high-speed internet.

“In order to succeed in our 21st century economy, Americans and businesses must have access to affordable and quality broadband internet,” said Kuster. “Unfortunately, too many communities in New Hampshire lack sufficient access to broadband internet. I’m excited to join this bipartisan Task Force to help bridge the internet gap that exists in rural communities in New Hampshire and across the country and I will continue my efforts to ensure every American has access to the technology and services they need to succeed.”

Kuster has pushed for resources to expand broadband to rural communities and discussed the importance of this issue with U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue. In 2017, she joined Senate and House Democrats to unveil a proposal to expand broadband and create accurate maps of areas that lack internet access in order to ensure rural Americans are not left out.
