**Amendment will be included in H.R. 9, the Climate Action Now Act**

Today, Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02), a member of the Energy and Commerce Energy Subcommittee, successfully advanced her amendment to support clean energy jobs in rural communities in the House of Representatives. Kuster’s amendment will require the President to produce a report that will examine the impact of the Paris Agreement on clean energy job development in rural communities. Kuster is the Chair of the Biomass Caucus in Congress and has been a strong supporter of expanding biomass energy and employment in northern New Hampshire.

“I’m pleased the House of Representatives has approved my amendment unanimously which will provide important research into the economic impact of clean energy jobs in rural communities,” said Kuster. “In New Hampshire, we’ve seen the importance of biomass energy and there is a huge opportunity for rural communities to be leaders in the clean energy industries and economy of the 21^st Century. I’m proud that communities in New Hampshire, like Concord, Keene, Hanover, Plainfield, and Cornish have all already committed to move to entirely renewable energy and are setting an example for the rest of the nation. I look forward to passing the Climate Action Now Act and urge Republicans in the Senate to join the House in acting to take meaningful steps to protect our environment and economy from carbon pollution.”

Congresswoman Kuster is a co-sponsor of the Climate Action Now Act, which would require the Trump Administration to remain in the Paris Climate Accord and to establish a plan for how the United States will meet its commitment to reduce pollution. Kuster has been vocal about the need to address climate change and has pushed back against the decision by President Trump to withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord.
