Kuster Statement on House Passage of $788 Billion Appropriations Bill
Washington, DC,
July 27, 2017
Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement on her decision to vote against a $788 billion spending bill that included funding for President Trump’s border wall. The appropriations bill forced through this evening did not meet budget caps for the defense portion of the bill and therefore would trigger a 13 percent sequestration on defense spending: “I opposed the appropriations bill we voted on this evening because it’s fiscally irresponsible and threatens sequestration on defense funding, which could have a devastating impact on national security and our economy in New Hampshire. It also includes funding for President Trump’s border wall which is a boondoggle that will do nothing to address our broken immigration system.” ### |
