Kuster Statement on Funding Lapse for NH Community Development Block Grant Programs
Washington, DC,
April 6, 2017
Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) released the following statement on today’s announcement by the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA) that funding for several Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) will be suspended due to Congressional Republican's use of stopgap funding measures. “Working families and communities throughout the Granite State can’t afford to have vital programs like those funded by the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority and Community Development Block Grants pulled out from under them,” said Congresswoman Kuster. “CDFA does essential work to encourage economic development, initiate critical infrastructure projects, and support affordable housing and economic opportunity initiatives. The fact that this good work is being jeopardized by the inability of Congress to perform one of its most basic functions is unacceptable. Stopgap and short-term funding measures are no way to run the government. Republican Leadership needs to get its act together to pass full-year funding bills so that organizations like CDFA can continue to help support our economy and state.” ### |
